Welcome to Lakedance – four days of sailing, swimming, sunshine and friendship by day… and dancing ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT LONG.

This festival is all about SWING.

Lindy Hop at its heart — with Balboa, Blues, and a touch of Fusion woven in. If you love to dance and never seem to get enough, you’re in the right place.

Last year was beautiful. This year will be bigger, bolder, and even more unforgettable. We’re keeping everything you loved – and turning up the volume.

For the first time, we have the Konzertmuschel right by the lake exclusively for all four days. That means music all day long. Social dancing in the sun. Barefoot moments between swims. Beats drifting over the water from noon until deep into the night. This is not just a festival – it’s a dance marathon by the lake. The music plays continuously throughout the day. You can take a break to go sailing, join a skill-sharing session, or simply enjoy the lake — but if you’d rather keep dancing non-stop, you absolutely can.

Friday: Sailing and hang out with us @ Konzertmuschel (skillsharing event) and Party @APOLLO Kreuzlingen — a beautifully restored historic cinema—featuring The Shirt Tail Stompers (UK). And of course our traditional skinny dipping
Saturday: More Sailing, Skillsharing and hanging out at the Konzertmuschel. Dance @APOLLO Kreuzlingen featuring The Killin‘ Jivers (GER) and the Shirt Tail Stompers. Blues afterparty until morning featuring Tim Schicker
Sunday: Boat Tour with the Jivers (AR) brunch and after party

Our cross-border swing dance project brings together the vibrant swing communities of Konstanz, St. Gallen, and Bregenz. At its heart is the idea of connecting people across borders through music, dance, and real human encounters. We’ll kick things off in June 2025 with a big event in Konstanz, organized by the local swing scene. In 2026, it’s St. Gallen’s turn to host! By switching locations each year, we’re celebrating intercultural exchange, building lasting networks, and strengthening collaboration across the region. Our goal? To create lively spaces where people from all backgrounds feel welcome, experience cultural diversity, and simply have a great time together. Thanks to the financial support of the Interreg ABH program, we’re able to bring this colorful and inspiring project to life.

BAnds and Music

The Shirt Tail Stompers

London’s top vintage band, the Shirt Tail Stompers are firmly established at home and internationally playing Harlem Swing and the Hot Jazz of the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Featuring music from composers such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Count Basie.

The Killin Jivers

Dirty, cheeky, and full of mischief – that was the jazz culture of the 1930s, and it still can be today, as The Killin’ Jivers prove with their current album “The Dream of Day and Night.” This jazz isn’t just meant to be listened to – it’s made for dancing and laughing along. Inspired by acts like Slim & Slam from jazz comedy and The Cats and the Fiddle from the world of vocal street jazz, The Killin’ Jivers bring jazz back to the show stage – and never take themselves too seriously in the process.

Jivers (Argentinia)

Jivers

Jivers is a four-piece band with a specific Jazz repertoire: vocal Swing of the thirties and forties. Mainly inspired in bands like The Mills Brothers, they adapt original arrangements to their instrumentation. Other times they create their own arrangements for not so traditional songs emphasizing in a close three part harmony and imitating instruments with their voices. The rhythm section consists of a guitar and a snare drum complemented with a typical traditional 20s Jazz formation: a tuba, a banjo and a washboard.

Swing Kids

Young, Talented, and Award-Winning

Since winning the prestigious Swiss Jazz Award in 2008 as Switzerland’s favorite jazz band, the Swing Kids have captured hearts at home and abroad. Their tours have taken them across America, Asia, and South America, earning international acclaim and impressing even the most seasoned jazz professionals.

Tim Schicker

Tim Schicker: vocalist and guitarrist and bandleader. His boudless stage energy turns every performance in a celebration. This time we will celebrate together his blues tunes that will dazzle you in the early morning hours.

Friday – Sailors & Sea Breeze – Elegance Meets Beach Party

Summer and Freedom of the SEAS

Step into a night of lake-side elegance and carefree summer vibes. There’s no strict dress code, but we’d love to see nautical stripes, flowing linen, breezy scarves, sailor hats, gold buttons — with a playful touch of beach-party spirit. Think feathers, sun-kissed fabrics, barefoot freedom, and fluttering silhouettes that echo the lightness of birds over the water.

Friday Late – Undress to Unimpress

From light to liberation — let it sparkle, let it slip.

As night falls, join us at Lake Constance for a beloved tradition: skinny dipping under the stars. Dive in, dip a toe, or simply watch — this is your invitation to let go: of expectations, polish, and clothes. Undress to unimpress is freedom, not a challenge.

No pressure to get naked. No pressure to get wet. Just be present. Be playful.

Saturday – Sea Creatures – A Magical Underwater World

Dive into a world beneath the surface.

There’s no strict dress code, but we’d love to see shimmering scales, flowing fabrics, seafoam greens, deep blues, coral flashes and pearly glow. Think magical sea creatures, mysterious ocean spirits, glittering mermaids, elegant seaweed, or beings from hidden underwater realms. Let your outfit feel fluid, luminous, and a little otherworldly — as if you just rose from the depths to dance.

If you’d prefer not to be in any of them, just have a quick word with him at the start of the weekend. If we don’t hear from you, we’ll assume you’re cool with us using pictures and videos that include you on those platforms.

At Lakedance, Skill-Sharing is all about creativity, curiosity, and community. Everyone can contribute what they love — last year’s program was a colorful mix, showcasing the diversity of our swing scene.

From Fusion Dance to Yoga, from juggling to improvisation, there’s something for everyone — or you can simply join in and try something new.

All sessions are organized by Anette (2ed person f.r.t.l.), your go-to person on site, making sure everything runs smoothly and everyone has a chance to shine.

Apollo Kreuzlingen

Two different live-bands await you in this beautifully restored cinema originally built in 1932. It reopened its doors to host a variety of cultural events in 2022 and we are beyond pleased to be able to have our parties in such a stunning and special location!

Konzertmuschel

Nestled in the heart of the Stadtgarten, the Konzertmuschel is an open-air stage that has been a beloved gathering spot for music and culture lovers for years. This iconic lakeside pavilion hosts a variety of concerts and performances from spring to autumn, offering a unique atmosphere where live music meets the stunning backdrop of Lake Constance. Managed by the Cultural Office of Konstanz, it remains a vibrant space for local artists, community events, and unforgettable evenings under the open sky.

Refund Policy – or: Why We Can’t Run a Ticket Office

Your booking becomes binding only after we’ve received your payment. Please note: We do not offer refunds, even in case of illness or unexpected life surprises.

However: If you can’t come, you’re welcome to transfer your pass to someone else in the same dance role (lead/follow). Just send us an email at workshop@swinginkonstanz.de with the name and email of the new person.

The orange tags point at the venues for events and parties, the dark blue tags are hotel recommendations.

We recommend inexpensive youth hostels, budget hotels and campgrounds tagged on the custom map.

All accommodations located outside Konstanz city center are easily accessible by public transport.
Early booking via popular booking platforms is recommended, as accommodations in Konstanz tend to sell out quickly on summer weekends!
